Orillia Volkswagen
345 West Street South, Orillia, ON, L3V 5H1The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan offers a comprehensive suite of safety and technology features designed to protect you and your passengers on every drive. From advanced collision avoidance systems to intelligent driver assistance, the Tiguan's IQ.DRIVE technology suite provides confidence on Orillia roads and beyond. Here's how safety and tech features stack up across the four trim levels.
Every 2026 Tiguan comes standard with IQ.DRIVE, Volkswagen's integrated driver assistance package.
Front Assist monitors the road ahead and applies automatic emergency braking if a collision is imminent. The system includes pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, which is particularly useful in urban environments and school zones around Orillia. If the system detects a pedestrian or cyclist in your path, it alerts you and can apply the brakes automatically.
Active Blind Spot Monitor watches the lanes beside you and alerts you when a vehicle enters your blind spot. This feature pairs with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which warns you of approaching vehicles when you're backing out of parking spaces - helpful in busy shopping centre lots.
Exit Warning takes blind spot monitoring a step further by alerting occupants if a vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian is approaching as they open the door. This feature helps prevent door-strike incidents in tight parking situations.
Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a set following distance from the vehicle ahead, automatically adjusting your speed in highway traffic. The system works smoothly in stop-and-go conditions, reducing driver fatigue on longer trips.
Lane Assist helps keep you centred in your lane by providing gentle steering corrections if you begin to drift without signalling. The system uses a camera to monitor lane markings and works at speeds above 65 km/h.
Emergency Assist monitors driver inputs and can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop if it detects the driver is unresponsive. The system activates the hazard lights and applies the brakes to safely stop the vehicle.
The Tiguan includes both Hill Hold Control and Hill Descent Control as standard equipment. Hill Hold prevents the vehicle from rolling backward when you're stopped on an incline - useful on Orillia's hilly terrain. Hill Descent Control maintains a controlled speed when descending steep grades, allowing you to focus on steering without riding the brakes.
The headlights include automatic functionality with Coming and Leaving Home light functions, which illuminate the area around your vehicle when you approach or leave.
Automatic high beam control switches between high and low beams based on oncoming traffic, maximizing visibility without blinding other drivers.
The Tiguan features LED headlights with adaptive front lighting system, providing excellent visibility in all conditions.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is standard and works with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system to maintain traction in challenging conditions. The system monitors wheel speed, steering angle, and lateral acceleration to detect and correct skids before they become serious.
The speed-sensitive power steering adjusts steering effort based on vehicle speed - lighter at low speeds for easy parking, firmer at highway speeds for stability.
The Tiguan includes a comprehensive airbag system with front airbags for driver and passenger, side curtain protection airbags covering both rows, and side airbags at the front and rear. The front passenger airbag includes automatic deactivation when a child seat is detected.
All seating positions include automatic seatbelt detection with audible and visual reminders, helping ensure everyone is properly secured before you drive.
The indirect tire pressure monitoring system alerts you when tire pressure drops below safe levels. The system monitors wheel speed sensors to detect pressure loss and displays warnings on the instrument cluster. Regular tire pressure checks are still recommended, especially during seasonal temperature changes.
The Tiguan includes an engine immobilizer anti-theft system as standard equipment. The system prevents the engine from starting without the correct key, providing an additional layer of security.
Volkswagen does not tier safety features by trim level, which means you get the full protection package regardless of which model you choose.
The Highline Turbo R-Line adds a slightly higher drag coefficient (0.36) and 4 mm of additional ground clearance (183 mm versus 179 mm), but the core safety systems remain consistent across the lineup.
