Pre-Owned Sales Manager Full-time

 

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the General Manager, the position is responsible for customer retention and profitability and establishing customer focused sales standards. Duties also include the solicitation, development and booking of new business through effective sales techniques and relationships with prospective customers.

 

Key Relationships Internally: All Employees

 

Externally: Customers, Wholesales and Suppliers Qualifications

 

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

 

Education

Essential:

  • Completion of high school diploma or vocational equivalent

Desirable:

· University degree or college diploma in business administration

 

 

Knowledge

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in a sales role in vehicle retail sales including 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Proficient with the following computer environments: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook

Desirable:

  • CRM Experience

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Forecasts goals and objectives for sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Prepares and administers an annual operating forecast and budget for the pre-owned vehicle sales department.
  • Assists salespersons in setting goals and objectives for pre-owned sales and coaches employees to achieve goals.
  • Assists the General Sales Manager with the hiring, training, motivating, coaching and monitoring of the performance of the sales staff. Ensures effective communication within the department and interdepartmentally.
  • Creates a customer focused environment and continuously strives to improve the customer satisfaction ratings.
  • Ensures that customer complaints are handled promptly and effectively and works closely with the customer to settle disputes.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal and provincial regulations that affect used car sales.
  • Develops, implements and monitors systems and standards for the used car sales department.
  • Ensures proper follow up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing and monitoring a prospecting and sales control system.
  • Provides product and training resources for salespersons on a continuous basis.
  • Ensures staff understands and follows department policies and procedures.
  • Develops and directs advertising initiatives and other promotions in collaboration with the salespersons and maintains website.

Vehicle Sales

  • Greets customers ensuring optimum customer service and assists sales team with closing customer deals.
  • Ensures 100 percent turnover of each customer to Finance & Insurance.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for the delivery of vehicles to customers.
  • Maintains vehicle inventory. Monitors customers’ likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analysis to determine which vehicles to stock.
  • Communicates daily with the new-vehicle Sales Manager regarding units needed for used-vehicle inventory.
  • Ensures that salespeople are informed of all new inventory and current advertising efforts including special sales.
  • Enforces a 60 day turn policy or discusses vehicles with Dealer Principal.
  • Appraises all incoming used vehicles.
  • Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditions is performed within the dealership’s cost and time limitations.
  • Keeps abreast of auto auction activity and prices and attends auctions on a regular basis.
  • Tracks results of auction purchases and compares gross profits of auction vehicles with those of trade-ins.
  • Reviews and approves customer contracts and resolves discrepancies.
  • Prepares documents, reports etc. as required.

Finance and Administration

  • Verifies sales commissions and prepares commission reports as required.
  • Finalizes month end reports as required.
  • Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with company and departmental policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintains customer and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment.

Responsibility for Health and Safety (for specific H&S legislative duties please refer to the OHSA):

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance and effectiveness of the health and safety program by promoting and communicating the details of the program
  • Advises employees on actual and potential workplace hazards and makes every reasonable attempt to resolve employees’ health and safety issues
  • Ensures that employees use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing required by Orillia Volkswagen, including the use of seat belts while in moving vehicles
  • Corrects any unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and acknowledge employees for safe work practices and promotes a behaviour based safety culture
  • Ensures compliance with all related occupational health & safety legislation and regulations
  • All managers are responsible for the implementation and of individual health and safety policies, procedures, standards and practices applicable to the work and activities in their respective departments

Responsibility for Decision Making:

  • Collaborates with the Dealer Principal to make final decisions on departmental goals and objectives
  • Responsible for the day to day operational decisions
  • Responsible for determining the priority of tasks within the scope of the position
